Wooden Boats galore
There are between 150 and 200 wooden vessels of all shapes, sizes, propelling options and building techniques on display with their owners at the Port Townsend Wooden Boat Festival. Most are in the water at Point Hudson Marina, the homeport of this festival for 30 years. This photo was taken by Larry Crockett, who in his other life serves as Executive Director of the Port of Port Townsend.

Boats on Land at Wooden Boat Festival
Twenty to seventy boats are on display on land at the Wooden Boat Festival. In 2005, this included San Francisco Model Yachts and two unique boats from Vietnam. Some are for sale, like Pygmy Kayaks, Adirondack Guideboats and Redfish Kayaks. These last three boats are beautifully crafted and available for purchase year around. Click on the links to go their websites. This photo was taken by Jan Davis.

Small Gaffer Sails in Wooden Boat Festival

Steam Launch at 29th Wooden Boat Festival
Thanks to the late Don Thompson (who went to Fiddler's Green this year) and Jenny Kane, new editor of their newsletter and a great example of the next generation of wooden boat owners with an interest that includes steam, the Northwest Steam Society again participated with one of their spectacular historic boats and engines. This photo was taken by Jan Davis at the 2005 festival.

Inspiring the next generation of wooden boat lovers
This special photo was taken of a girl and her father at the 29th Wooden Boat Festival. If anyone knows her name, I'd be happy to include it in the information about this photo taken by Jan Davis.

Festive even in the rain!
It does rain sometimes during the Wooden Boat Festival, but not every day or all day thanks to our location in the "rain shadow" of the Olympic Mountains. In this photo, Kaci is waving to Jan Davis who is aboard the Seaborn 50, Sea Fever, as they head out to sail in the 2003 Festival Sailby. To Kaci's right is Vito Dumas (owned by Alex and Elena Spear), and to her left is Sea Witch, the boat Jo Bailey used while conducting much of the research for their famous books Gunkholing the Puget Sound. Sea Witch is now owned and cared for by Larry and Nancy Eifert. Photo by Jan Davis.
