Today we raised the anchor on the International Women's Sailing Network blog. There are nearly 20 women who've contacted me the last year, hoping to begin dialogue with other women sailors and to discuss topics, solutions and boating issues focused on women's experiences, questions and advice. I'll email everyone this week, in hopes we can begin dialogue on anchoring, routes from Seattle to Mexico, selecting a boat, seminar ideas, or whatever topics you choose. The website is new and my learning curve is steep, so let me know what is or isn't working for you. You can
email Kaci directly on the home page, and hopefully "post" comments here that other people can read too. Like any sailing adventure, this network will vary with the weather, the crew and with experiences we have on the way. So, shake a reef, and join in the writing adventure today. Welcome aboard!
Thanks Lynn, Nancy, Nicki, Barbara, PL, Joan, Jude, Judy, Paula, Adrienne, Dan and Sharon for your emails and feedback of specifics this first few days of posting! Look forward to more emails, stories, ideas and to continuing to build the network.

Understand I am a fairly new sailor, so my "contribution" is sent with a measure or humility. I've used a book called "International Marine's Weather Predicting Simplified: How to Read Weather Charts and Satellite Images" with some success. What I liked most about the book was its good use of illustration and examples. The book is also organized in a way that is logical to me, starting with macro weather patterns first then digging into the details later. The writing style is clear and also within reach for a beginner such as myself.
