Weather Simplified

wxbook.jpg"I've used a book called "International Marine's Weather Predicting Simplified: How to Read Weather Charts and Satellite Images" with some success. What I liked most about the book was its good use of illustration and examples. The book is also organized in a way that is logical to me, starting with macro weather patterns first then digging into the details later. The writing style is clear and also within reach for a beginner such as myself.  LT"  Thanks Lynn for the recommendation!

On Tethys, I read nearly 200 books a year.  Booker Prize winners (the British & Commenwealth country literature awards) were my favorites, especially since we could buy them in Australia, NZ, Malacca, South Africa and then read them while cruising in those countries.  Other favorites were Mulligan's sextant book, Calder's Mechanical & Electrical Manual, Cornell's World Cruising Routes, Callahan's Adrift, for starts.  One of our crew made a bibliography of must have boats from her time on Tethys.  I'll try to find that and post it.  Until then, post your recommendations and if you want to shop online, we love the independent bookstore Powell's Books in Portland!
